What Quantico offers

The town’s Municipal Office is on 5th Avenue, and the town runs its own water. The National Museum of the Marine Corps is a short drive away in Triangle.

A little history

The word Quantico comes from Pamacocack, the name of a Doeg tribe village meaning “by the long stream.” Around 1690 a mill was built at the mouth of Quantico Creek. During the Revolutionary War, Quantico was the main naval base for Virginia’s fleet. The area was formerly known as Potomac and Evansport. The town’s main street is shown here in a January 1925 photograph.

Is new construction available?

Very limited. Quantico is a small town surrounded by the base, so new construction is generally nearby rather than within the town, in places like Triangle and Dumfries.
