Woodford is a small, unincorporated community in northern Caroline County, north of Bowling Green and along the old Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac railroad line. It has a post office and mostly rural surroundings.
If you want land, space and a slower pace, but still want Fredericksburg within reach, Woodford is worth a look.

Woodford itself is small, and most shopping and services are in nearby Bowling Green or in the Fredericksburg area. The nearest Caroline County convenience site for trash and recycling is on Widewake Drive in Corbin.
The railroad shaped Woodford. It was earlier known as Downer’s Crossing and Woodford’s Lane, and the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac railroad came through in 1836 and 1837. The community was named for Revolutionary War general William Woodford. The post office has been in operation since 1874, and an excelsior mill once operated here.
